I’ve Scheduled the First “Drafting Clearer Contracts” Training for 2026

When?

I’ve scheduled the first two series of Drafting Clearer Contracts: Masterclass for 2026. One begins on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, at 11:00 a.m. ET; the second begins on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, at noon ET. And I’ve scheduled one Drafting Clearer Contracts presentation, on 8 and 9 April 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m. ET. More of both kinds of training will follow in due course.

Masterclass is built around eight live hour-long sessions held once a week and supplemented by reading and quizzes. The presentation consists of two live 3-hour-and-10-minute sessions on consecutive days.

What’s the Point?

My training introduces participants to A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting. You could just read the book, but it’s big, and it addresses some complicated topics, so you might benefit from easing into it. Whether you opt for a presentation or Masterclass depends on how quickly you want to go up the learning curve. Either way, the training is just the beginning of a longer process of learning.

The bigger question, though, is what’s the point of becoming familiar with MSCD. As I explain in this 2024 blog post, you cannot be an informed consumer of contract language without consulting MSCD.

But do we really need to be informed consumers of contract language, now that we have artificial intelligence? Yes, we do. As I’ve explained in extensive detail, mainstream contract drafting is dysfunctional. Because AI has been force-fed that dysfunction, AI replicates it. If you want your contract language to be clear and concise, you have to be in control.

Is It Any Good?

It’s been a long time since I chased after testimonials from people who have participated in my training. Instead, I offer whatever recent feedback I have at hand. So here’s what someone emailed me a couple of days ago:

I’m absolutely loving Masterclass. It’s incredibly useful and thought-provoking. Thanks again for putting it together!

I could compile other examples like that, but perhaps what’s more relevant is that I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and no one else offers anything comparable. The second series of Masterclass I’ve just scheduled will be my fiftieth (not including private series). If my training wasn’t worthwhile, I would have been kicked to the curb long ago.

What About Private Training?

I offer private presentations (online and in person) and private series of Masterclass (just online). I find the private training particularly fun. For one thing, I include examples from the client’s templates in my PowerPoint slides—that helps make the discussion relevant. And addressing people who work together has a different dynamic than addressing a group of strangers.

If you’d like to find out more about my private training, contact me. Otherwise, I hope to see some of you at my public training.
