March 2012 Seminars in Geneva, Switzerland

This spring I’ll be back in Geneva, giving my “Drafting Clearer Contracts” seminar on Monday, March 12; Wednesday, March 14; and Thursday, March 15. Once again, Akin Gump’s Geneva office will be acting as my host. Please spread the word! I hope to see some of you there.

  1. Dear Ken,
I was one of the lucky participants to your seminar today in Geneva.
Being the General Counsel of a watch manufacturer I found it really interesting to have access to your ‘ drafting recipes’ and strongly suggest your drafting style to all in-house (and outside) counsels, no matter in which language (English, French, Spanish, Italian etc) you are drafting your contracts.
Your method should be taught in the law schools in Europe too, it is so efficient and simple that it would be a pity to reserve it to the English native language. It has to be exported. Guendalina Bellavita

It’s an interesting idea that at least some of my recommendations apply equally to drafting in languages other than English. Indeed, I’ve noted that French-language contracts exhibit some of the features of traditional English legalese. This is perhaps a topic that someone should explore further.
