My notion of offering an on-demand module of my Drafting Clearer Contracts training is slowly shifting from a gleam in my eye to reality.
Videos and Quizzes
This module will consist of 200+ short videos, some proportion of them accompanied by automated quizzes.
The foundation of Drafting Clearer Contracts training is my book A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting. The book is big, and it has its complexity, so a gentle introduction might be helpful. That’s the point of the training. It appears that many of you find videos a helpful way to learn, so who am I to stand in the way of learning! Videos you shall have!
Any given video will cover … something. It might be a broad topic or, in the case of most videos, something smaller. A word or phrase. A kind of ambiguity. A kind of defined-term dysfunction. And so on. The videos will be short and punchy.
The quizzes will be on the e-learning platform I use, Thinkific. I have in mind you would watch a video, read the relevant part of MSCD, then take the quiz (if there is one) by clicking on a link associated with the video.
The Buildup
I’m not going to wait until I have all videos and quizzes completed before launching this module. Instead, I’ll launch when I have a critical mass of videos—perhaps 40.
But there’s a bunch of stuff to put in place. For one thing, we’re nearing the end of a months-long renovation of our home after 25 years of benign neglect. The photo above is of a wall in my office, featuring new wallpaper and a big copper tray acquired 60 years ago, when my family lived in Morocco. Is that a suitable backdrop? We’ll find out!
I’m also refreshing my wardrobe; I’m compiling a video-gear shopping list; I’ve started writing the script for the first video; and I’ve lined up video-production and video-editing talent.
With all there is to do, I’m aiming to launch sometime this year. If you’d like me to keep you informed of my progress, click here to submit your name and email address.
